Logbook is available on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Most features work the same across all three; where the interaction differs, both are described below.

Getting Started

Logbook is a simple, powerful app for creating timestamped notes organized into separate logbooks. Each entry is automatically timestamped when you create it, making it perfect for tracking events, thoughts, or activities over time.

On iPhone and iPad

The app has three main screens:

  1. Logbook list — see all your logbooks and tap one to open it.
  2. Log view — see all entries in the selected logbook and add new ones.
  3. Edit view — tap an existing entry to edit its text or timestamp, or delete it.

On Mac

The app uses a single window with a sidebar listing your logbooks and a main pane showing the selected logbook’s entries.

Creating Your First Logbook

iPhone / iPad: Tap the + button on the logbook list screen. Give your logbook a name when prompted.

Mac: Click the New Logbook button in the sidebar. To name it, Control-click (or right-click) the logbook and choose Rename.

Start adding entries using the text field at the bottom of the log view (iOS) or main window (Mac).
